Pinterest Fail

I poke around Pinterest some.  A great place to get some inspiration... or a great place to get some laughs.

I stumbled across a pin that showed bleached pinecones...

We decided to follow the directions on the link and bleach up some too.  They suggested soaking the pinecones for a few hours.

After 3 DAYS, the pinecones still weren't what Pinterest promised.  More gray than white.

Oh well.  Great lesson in "You can't believe everything you see on Pinterest."

Bundled Up for You

We've done a lot of junkin' over the past 4 1/2 years for Booth 58.   In Texas, we spend most of the year braving the heat, but this wasn't the case last week.  Friday, we traded our sunscreen for our gloves.  All bundled up, we headed out to dig for cool treasures for you.  And we didn't come home empty handed! 

After defrosting a bit and warming up with a hot bowl of soup, we added some new handmade goodies to the booth..... just in time for a busy shopping weekend at the ACM!

Today

Whenever Mom (Mrs. 58) emails me the subject line is always "Today" - She fills me in on what is going on at the farm with her and Dad... and whatever adventure they went on "today."  So, here's what's going on "today" in 58 Style:

We are working at the Mall today...Come by and say hi.... Come in and see all the fun that is going on at ACM.... lots of changes.... lots of new looks.... lots of great ideas for your homes.

We have been adding bits and pieces to Booth 58. 

Mom and I created a little "handmade" corner yesterday... a spot to display all of our banners and tags

Today there is a new "wall" that Mr. 58 constructed last night. 

Today there are also lots of new treasures that were "picked" fresh... yesterday... just for you!  Come see!

Today  is the perfect day for venturing up to Downtown McKinney and enjoying the Square.  Don't forget to journey down Virginia to come by and say hi.  We are open until 5:30.

Chalkboard Art

Have you noticed all the chalkboard art these days?  I recently found CJ Hughes from Custom Chalk.com in Tennessee.  His work is beautiful.  Go see his website to see more.

Booth 58 has been selling a lot of chalkboards lately.  I spent some time adding a version of  my "chalkboard art" to them.... Nothing like CJ's - but my feeble attempt. 

It is fun to see what a little bit of white chalk can do! 

A chalkboard is a fun gift for anyone on your list. Wrap it up with a cute ribbon or twine... add a couple pieces of chalk ... and viola!  Done!

  I gave a friend one as a housewarming gift recently, with a quote about "home" written on it.  Perfect for a teen or college student also.  And any busy mom or teacher would appreciate a fun place to make her lists.  I have one in our kitchen where I jot my kids' current Bible verses we are working on memorizing.... and sometimes just a fun message from me to them.  They think the "old fashion" chalkboard is cool....

My little angels

Another "show and tell" today... My little angels:


Made these little angels from vintage salt and pepper shakers.  This was fun!  I made a whole "multitude" of them! 



My real "little angels" were fascinated with them and loved their wings.  I had to reattach a few that Little Mr. 58 loved on a bit too much!

Makin' Stuff and Oktoberfest

Tis the Season to MAKE STUFF!!!

 We've decided that the past few weeks have been the start to the holiday season.... lots of customers are buying our handmade stuff.   We're busy makin' stuff... trying to keep up with the fall goodies... but also anticipating Christmas.

Heading out on a buying trip this week.... And then we hope to add a "Here Comes Christmas Corner" to the booth.  Just a small preview of all the Holiday Happys that are on the way!!!

One 'shout out' for some fellow crafters who are makin' cute stuff!!.... Paper Cowgirl is a fun group of ladies who do wonderful retreats and events... Their fall event "Something Wicked" is coming up October 12-13.  Check out their website for more information.

One more thing!

Are you planning on joining us for Downtown McKinney's Oktoberfest this weekend?  It will be fun... Plan on coming up, having a brat, listening to some music, and doing some shopping at our street fair... ACM Vendors will be set up outside of the mall with lots of vintage goodness.  Then come inside where the a/c will be goodness!

 (Booth 58 won't be setting up outside this year... just in our normal spot inside.. with that good a/c!)
